How To Get To Newark Airport
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) served over 46 million passengers in 2019, making it the 12th busiest airport in the U.S. As a major hub for United Airlines, the airline accounts for around half of the passenger traffic of EWR and is the only airline to operate out of Terminal C.
EWR has 13 lounges, including 4 lounges managed by United Airlines, a Delta Sky Club, and Admirals Club. Passengers that are not eligible for an airline lounge may purchase a day pass to Art & Lounge in Terminal A.
Note: If you're looking to get into airport lounges without having to fly business or first class, check out our list of the best cards for free airport lounge access.
Update: Some of the lounges featured in this article may be closed or operating under reduced opening hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Connecting Between Terminals for Lounge Access
If you're flying with a Star Alliance airline, you can ride the United Shuttle bus that operates between the 3 terminals inside the secure area. This allows passengers to use a lounge in a different terminal to their departing flight without the need to reclear security. Buses operate from near gates A28, B67, and C70.
If you're not traveling on a Star Alliance airline and need to travel between terminals, you must ride the AirTrain and reclear security. Keep this in mind and allow plenty of time if you're changing terminals to access a particular lounge before your flight.
Best Credit Cards to Access Priority Pass Lounges
With Priority Pass Select access, you can take your airport experience to the next level by gaining access to over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide. Why spend your time wandering airport gift shops as you wait for your flight when you could be waiting for your flight in style from the comfort of an airport lounge with free food and drinks?
The very best airport lounge access credit card is the Amex Platinum card. Not only do cardmembers get access to Priority Pass lounges, but you'll also get access to 5 other airport lounge networks including Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs (when flying Delta), Plaza Premium Lounges, Airspace lounges, and Escape Lounges. This virtually guarantees that no matter what airport you're flying out of, there is likely to be a lounge that you can access with your Amex Platinum card.
Another great credit card for Priority Pass lounge access is the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card. This is because the Chase Sapphire Reserve card also gives you access to Priority Pass restaurant locations where you'll receive a $28 dining credit (or $56 when dining with a guest) so that you can enjoy a free meal before your flight.
Curious what other options you have? Here are some of the credit cards that offer access to Priority Pass lounges:
- Amex Business Platinum card
- Citi Prestige® Card
- Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card (10 visits per year)
- Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card
- U.S. Bank Altitude™ Reserve Visa Infinite® Card
Final Thoughts
Newark Liberty International Airport has a good selection of lounges where passengers can wait for their flight in more comfortable surroundings. The airside shuttle bus gives Star Alliance passengers the freedom to move between terminals without needing to reclear security. This could benefit those United Club visitors that may want to consider visiting the quieter Terminal A lounge instead of the 2 more crowded lounges in Terminal C.
